Vicent Moncho Mas
CIO, Marina Salud Hospital de Dénia

Vicent Moncho is currently chief information officer of Marina Salud Hospital, Dénia, a member of the steering committee of Marina Salud S.A., and an associate professor and consultant at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). His challenge is to change the culture of healthcare professionals so that they adapt more easily and quickly to new technologies and the related opportunities.
Vicent participated as a project manager in the implementation of electronic medical records (EMR) in the Valencia region, covering 1,120 primary care facilities and a patient population of around 5.2 million. He was also a project manager in the redesign and implementation of equipment for datacenters operated by a network of 23 public hospitals in the region.
After 9 years of working in different areas of healthcare IT, in 2006, Vicent joined the Marina Salud project concerning the construction of a technologically pioneering new hospital in Dénia. The hospital opened in February 2009, complete with a truly paperless environment, for which it received several awards from national organizations. In 2011, Marina Salud was certified to have achieved Stage 6 of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)'s EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM) and then to have reached EMRAM Stage 7 one year later — the first hospital in Spain and second in Europe accredited as such. In 2015, Marina Salud was the first hospital outside the U.S. to be presented with the HIMSS Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence.
